When I was young, and the world wide web was nascent, I discovered Dragon Ball Z. I spent a lot of time moving through web rings, discovering DBZ fan sites. One thing I discovered while surfing was a trend where folks were editing clips from the show and setting them to music. This was the Dragon Ball Z music video.
By scouring the internet for these videos, and impatiently downloading them to play on QuickTime or RealPlayer, I discovered a lot of music. It was one of the key avenues for me, as a young person, to develop my own taste in music.
Ever since then, I wanted to create a DBZ music video of my own, but for some reason I never did. Recently my kids were "making beats" on GarageBand, and I was inspired to make one of my own, using DBZ audio snippets. I had so much fun making the song that I decided to make a video to go with it. This is the result.
The key bit of audio that inspired me is from an interview Sonny Strait (voice of Krillin) gave in which he pretended to call up writer Terry Klassen, to comment on the line "Mondo cool."
